18 Carat Gold plate
Our customers told us they wanted a smaller version to our beautiful Great Wheel Skeleton clock, and in response to this we have produced the Elizabeth. Half the size of its elder sibling it is perfectly scaled down version a miniaturised version of our Great Wheel Skeleton clock.
Named in honour of E.J. Dent's wife, who succeeded as head of the company after E.J. and then Frederick, this new design includes an integral bevelled glass case and base, which can be table or wall mounted. Our customers in the Middle East also asked that the clock be suitable as a Gift for Presentation and so we have ensured that the pendulum, which is hung from a silk type suspension, can be lowered and temporarily secured for Presentations.
As with our original Great Wheel Skeleton clock, the plates can be produced to any bespoke design, as long as they remain within the confines of the wheel train. Any engraving or further decoration can be included by special request. Every part (with the exception of the pallet) is made from either Gold plated brass or Stainless steel, which will eliminate any tarnishing problems caused by high humidity in more extreme temperature environments.
The Great Wheel has 288 teeth, which are a cycloidal tooth form, and makes just one revolution daily, the escapement is a 'Graham Deadbeat' controlled by a 'silk' suspension and Invar pendulum. The movement is fitted with Maltese cross stop work to achieve the best timekeeping and the clock will run for a full eight days between windings.
A Rhodium finish clock will also be available and the wall-mounted model will include brackets and a backboard.
